Companies are capitalizing on the popularity of Google Earth, the most popular of the satellite imaging sites, by painting logos and advertising messages on the roofs of their premises in a bid to reach potential customers.
While the trend is still relatively new, such painted brands stand out prominently amongst a sea of other bland rooftops.
In a bid to find untapped advertising space, Target, the American retail store are said to be enjoying additional trade as a result of their free advertising.
Bloggers have commented that the Target logo was originally painted to gain interest from passengers using a local airport, however. One blogger asked "I know, it's their logo, but do they really want pilots to see a target on their roof? It could be viewed as a dare."
Estate agents are also now picking up on the resource in the US by letting potential buyers examine maps, zoom in on a house and view the selling details.
